In our practical class this week we looked at three stimuli and made a mind-map collecting ideas and themes about the pictures. We then made a mind-map as a class about methods we can use in our group choreography (see image attached). Following on from that we each spent some time ‘choreographing’ our own piece of work called: ‘Self’; spelling out our name by using different movements. I used a mixture of classical and contemporary movements to spell out ‘Charlotte’; using my whole body and the floor. Then we joined together and collaborated to make one joint piece titled ‘friendship’ using our name-inspired choreography.
Moving forward with this project, I will use the different methods we discussed in class to help create my piece for the group choreography. I will also research different themes related to the stimulus to give my piece a meaning rather than just performing the movements.

What did you focus on when choreographing the friendship piece?

DeleteWe considered the techniques we previously spoke about as a class to give our work more depth and make it look more interesting, for example: we used layers by standing in a diagonal line. We took it in turns watching the other groups and gave each other feedback which we could take inspiration from and other things we could consider. This will also help us when we start choreographing our group piece.
